Ethical Concerns Regarding AI
Alexis Elder is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and head of the Department of Philosophy at UMD. Her research focuses on ethical implications of emerging technologies, drawing on historical traditions to understand these modern issues in the context of human values. She is the author of two books: The Ethics of Digital Ghosts: Confucian, Mohist, and Zhuangist Perspectives on AI and Death, published last year, and Friendship, Robots, and Social Media: False Friends and Second Selves, published in 2018, both through Routledge.
